Spring break is over. Jane is telling Steve about her impression from her fabulous trip to India.
Steve: So, Jane, was your trip to India amazing?
Jane: Yes, it was. We had an unforgetable adventure. I learned a lot of things about a new culture and a few funny situations happend, too.
Steve: Really? What happend?
Jane: well, when we wanted to travel to the country, we took the bus. Suddenly, the bus stopped and I didn’t know why. I looked outside and I saw a cow in the middle of the road. It wanted to have a rest there. In India, the believe that cows are holy animals, so we had to wait for half an hour until the cow mowed. That was a funny adventure.
Steve: Wow, I did not know that. Are there any other beliefs about animals in India?
Jane: Yes, there are. One day I saw a big fly on the wall. I wanted to kill it, but a local men stopped me. He said that maybe that was his grandfather. Indian people believe that the souls of their grandfathers and great grandfathers can live in insects. For me that was a little funny but I din’t kill the bug. I wanted to respect the man’s tradition .
Steve: That was very nice of you. Good people respect other people’s beliefs and traditions.
Jane: Yes, of course. That is what my mom always teach me.
Steve: And did you see any wild animals.
Jane: Yes, I saw some jackals from the bus and than a funny thing happend with a big bird when we were on a picnic. The bird grabbed the sandwich from my hand and flew away.
Steve: That’s funny! And did you visit interesting sights?
Jane: Yes, we did. One day we visited a village, we saw a wedding. Indian person in red for wedding are in red for weddings. I didn’t know that before we saw an old butcher in the village. The way he ate the meat was very interesting. He held the knife with his foot – it was between his toes, and he used his hands to move the meat over the knife and cut it. Can you believe it?
