Queensland, known in
Australia as the sunhine state is the second largest State in the country. The total
length of the coastlineis 7400 km. The northern half of Queensland is tropical - the
summers are hot and wet in some areas along the coast experiencing up to 4000mm of
rainfall a year. The winters are mild with little rainfall and temperatures averaging
around 20C.
Brisbane, the State's capital is situated on the Bribane River 29km from Moreton
Bay on the south coast. The city has a warm climate averaging 26C in summer and 15C in
winter.
