John Mayall, rođen 29. novembra 1933, je pjevač, tekstopisac i multi-instumentalac. Jedan je od začetnika engleskog bluesa. Njegova muzička karijera se proteže preko pedeset godina, ali najreprezentivnija je ona tokom kasnih 60’-tih godina. Osnivač je John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers i kako je imao smisla za uočavanje talenta, uticao je na karijere mnogih muzičara ukljućijući: Eric Claptona, Jack Brucea, Peter Greena, John McViea, Mick Fleetwooda, Mick Taylora, Don "Sugarcane" Harrisa, Harvey Mandela, Larry Taylora, Aynsley Dunbaar, Hughie Flinta, Jon Hisemana, Dick Heckstall-Smitha, Andy Frasera, Johnny Almonda, Jon Marka, Walter Trouta, Coco Montoyaa, i Buddy Whittingtona. 

Mejlov otac je bio gitarista i jazz intuzijasta. Od malih nogu bio je privučen američkim bluesom i muzičarima kao što su Leadbelly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith i Eddie Lang. Sam je naučio da svira klavir, giraru i usnu harmoniku. Od kraja 70’tih živi u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, kuću u Laurel Canyon mu je uništio požar 1979 i nanjeo ozbiljnu štetu njegovoj muzičkoj kolekciji i arhivi. 

John Mayall se ženio dva puta i ima šest unučadi.
