If you are planning to visit the Republic of Srpska, you should know some of the most important cultural issues.
Greetings
Greeting is a very important thing because people create their first impression on how you greet them. For example, when meeting people you don't know, you should shake hands. On the other hand, when you meet people who are faimiliar to you, you should kiss them on the cheek or just say "Hi!". In some bussines situations it would be appropriate to shake hands. That's the best way of introducing yourself. On special ocassions, people ususaly kiss each other three times on the cheek. But, if you are a foreigner, this is not essential. In this case, a simple handshaking would certainly be enough.
Presents
If you are invited to somebody's house, buying a bunch of flowers to the hostess and a bottle of drink for the host would be a nice gift. In case that you are visiting a family with children, it could be great to buy some chocolates for the children.
Gestures and behaviour
Try to be polite and friendly as much as you can, so will the host be. People will definitely like it if you have good manners and nice sense of humour.
All in all, if you happen to come to the Republic of Srpska some day, I'm sure you'll be amazed by our people, who are, in general, really good-hearted.
